Summer Reading

Teens (13-17) Start by signing up!

How to Participate

It's easy! Just sign up and READ!

1. Sign up and get a Reading Log. Signing up is easy! All we need is your first name, last name, and age. You can print a Reading Log beginning May 12 when you use our easy online sign up portal, or you can pick up an already-printed Reading Log when you register in-person at one of our Public Library Branches beginning June 3.

2. Keep track of the time you spend reading on your Reading Log. For every hour you read, whatever kind of reading you like to do, mark off one book symbol. If you fill up your whole Reading Log and would like another, you can ask for one at one of our Library Branch locations.

3. Once each week, bring your Reading Log to your local branch of the Public Library. Show us your reading progress, and we'll reward you with a weekly incentive prize! You do NOT need to mark off all of the book symbols on your reading log to earn a weekly prize! At any time during the Summer Reading Program, when you have all of the book symbols on your Reading Log marked off (remember, it's one book symbol for each hour you've read) bring your Reading Log to your local branch of The Public Library and turn it in. We'll then give you a fresh Reading Log to keep going, and an entry form for a special prize drawing we'll hold at the branch after the Program ends, just for Teens, age 13-17.

4. Almost any kind of reading you'd like to do this summer counts! Books? Great! Graphic Novels or Manga? Awesome! Magazines? Super! Audiobooks or e-books downloaded and read or listened to on a digital device? Fantastic! What doesn't count? Just a few things: Texting, tweeting, or other activity on any social media platforms.
